Independent Living
Direct
payments
are local council payments for people who have been assessed
as needing help from social services, and who would like to
arrange and pay for their own care and support services instead
of receiving them directly from the local council. Having
a direct payment does not affect any other benefits.
The
Independent Living Fund is designed to help you,
if you are disabled, to live independently at home rather
than in residential care. You can use payments from the Fund
to employ people to give you personal and domestic care in
your home.
