Lisieux Trust Host Annual Sports Day
We were delighted that over 80 residents and their families gathered this weekend for the much-anticipated Lisieux Trust Annual Sports Day.
Held at Streetly Cricket Club, the event was a wonderful celebration of togetherness and sportsmanship.
The day kicked off with a friendly rounders match, setting the tone for an action-packed day ahead, before a break for lunch of baked potatoes and doughnuts heralded what turned out to be the highlight of the day – a spirited boys versus girls’ football match.
The residents demonstrated their football prowess, with some even exhibiting skills that would not be out of place in the Premier League (however, the same cannot be said for the Trust staff), delivering impressive goals. Ultimately, the boys’ team emerged victorious, securing a 7-4 triumph.
As the rain began to fall, undeterred, the whole Lisieux Trust community gathered in the cricket pavilion to conclude the event with a lively raffle.
Generous donations from individuals and businesses in the area made it a resounding success, with many residents taking home fantastic prizes, leaving smiles on their faces that could brighten even the cloudiest day.
Well done too, to one of our most entrepreneurial of residents who had made bracelets for sale – and judging by the queues at his table, they were proving incredibly popular!
Days like this are vital for fostering a sense of community and friendship among our residents and their families. Witnessing the joy on their faces as they bond over sports and shared experiences is truly heartwarming.
We are immensely grateful to everyone at Streetly Cricket Club for their warm hospitality and to all those who participated and contributed to making this event such a memorable one.
